ಆ ದಿನ ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು ೧.೩೦ ಗಂಟೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮೂಡುಬಿದಿರೆಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ದೇವಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹೊರಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನರರೂಪಿಯಾಗಿ, ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ವೇಷಧಾರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಚಕ್ರಧಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನದ ಚೆಂಡೆ-ಮದ್ದಳೆ ದನಿಗೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾ ತೆಂಕು ತಿಟ್ಟು ಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಣಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಎಟಕುವಂತೆ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾದ ಮಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಚಕ್ರದಿಂದ ರಕ್ಕಸರ ಶಿರ ಮರ್ಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಕುಟ್ಟಿಪುಡಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ತುಂಬಲಾಗಿರುವ ಬಣ್ಣಬಣ್ಣದ ನೀರು, ಹಣ್ಣು, ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ತನ್ನ ತಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಡಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವಕರು ಮಡಕೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಹಗ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಾಡಿಸಿ ಕುಣಿಸಿ ಮಜಾ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿದೆ.
ಬೇರೆ ಊರುಗಳಂತೆ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿ ತಿಕ್ಕಿ ತೀಡಿದ ಕಂಗಿನ ಮರವೇರಿಯೋ ಅಥವಾ ಆಗಸದೆತ್ತರ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಡಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾನವ ಸರಪಣಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಮಡಕೆ ಒಡೆಯಲು ಇಡೀ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ಅವಕಾಶವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮಯ ........................... ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮಯ
ಪುರದ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯ ಸುಮಾರು ಮಡಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಮೊಸರು ಕುಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು ಇಕ್ಕೆಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿರುವ ಸಹಸ್ರ ಪುರಜನರ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಪಡೆದು ಬರುವ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಗುಡಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗುವಾಗ ರಾತ್ರಿ ೮.೦೦ ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ ಹೇಗೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು ಎಂಬ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಸಿಗಲೊಲ್ಲದು. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಈ ಪದ್ದತಿಗೆ ದೇವಳ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮೂಲಕ ಉತ್ತರ ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡು ಪುನರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪದ್ದತಿ ಪುನಃ ಜೀವಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ೮೫ ವರ್ಷಗಳಾಯಿತೆಂಬ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವಿದೆ. ಇದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಮೊಕ್ತೇಸರರಾಗಿ ಗುರುಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮೋನಪ್ಪ ಕುಲಾಲ್ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ವೇಷಧಾರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದವರು ಈಗ ಅವರ ಮಗ ಸುಧಾಕರ ಕುಲಾಲ್ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ವೇಷ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕಳೆದ ಎರಡೂವರೆ ದಶಕಗಳಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಸ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಓಊ ೧೩ ಮುಖ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸಭೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಟ್ಯರಂಜನೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನ್ಯೂ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಸ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಕೂಡ ಮನರಂಜನೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Sarvotham Shetty

An individual who was instrumental for the formation of Karnataka Association (Auh), Bunts Association & Tulu Koota in the United Arab Emirates and strived for the smooth functioning of these Associations for the last 28 years is undoubtedly Sri. Sarvotham Shetty – a man with passion for cultural activities. As his name suggests he is ‘Sarvaralli Uttama’. His down to earth life style, crystal clear communication skills, authoritarian look and the hidden talents in art, culture, and drama has made him a leader who commands respects by his deeds in Arabian Gulf.

Sarvotham was born and brought up in a tiny hamlet of Pareekha in the district of Udupi. After his Pre-University education in Perdoor & Hiriyadka, Mr.Shetty moved to Mumbai and toiled in a hotel to earn his livelihood. Thereafter, he worked in a Solicitor’s office for some time. His “earn and learn” motto got him a Government Commercial Diploma from Bombay University and later continued his education in R.A.Podar College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai and received the B.Com degree in 1978. Active in Students Union, he represented R.A.Podar College as a Student Representative to the Senate of the University of Bombay in 1977.

After a brief stint in a Pharmaceutical Company, he joined Syndicate Bank in 1970, where he honed his skills in Banking and Finance. As a youngster, his love for dramatics inspired him to take part in Inter Collegiate Drama Competitions and carve a niche for himself in the arena of dramatics and arts. During his college days he received warm tributes for his memorable performance in a play called “Haggada Kone” written by well known writer Parvathavani’ and thus etched a name for himself in the world of Kannada arts.

In 1979, with the co-operation of his friends he founded “KALAJAGATHU” and had a privilege to be its founder President. ‘Kalajagatthu’ went on to become a well-known cultural Forum of Mumbai which even to this day promotes Kannada & Tulu theatrical play’s in Mumbai.

It was then that his life took a significant turn. A leading business house of UAE; International Distribution Establishment of Abu Dhabi invited him to join them to a key position. He was called upon to discharge multifarious responsibilities which he fulfilled with all the zeal and sincerity for which he is so famous for. He has served as a General Manager for 25 years in International Distribution Establishment and presently he is managing his own business in the UAE capital.

In addition to his responsibilities at work, in his spare hours he went out to get connected socially and once again began his real interest of building platform for the fellow community members to meet, greet and share the traditional bond of friendship, hidden talents in them. Thus born Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi, UAE Bunts Sangha & U.A.E.Tulukoota and Mr.Sarvotahm is the President of these cultural Forums.

It was a great moment for Kannadigas of the Emirates, when Sri. Sarvotham Shetty became the first Kannadiga to be elected as the President of INDIA SOCIAL CENTRE (ISC) for the year 1999-2000. ISC is a premier Indian Association in the Gulf & he remains the only person to be elected unanimously in the 45 years history of this official organisation. He created history again when he was once again elected as the President of ISC in 2002-03. In an earlier stint he was the Vice-President during the year 1995-96. Mr.Shetty was also the founder Vice-President of Toastmaster International Abu Dhabi Chapter and he became a CTM.

Since 1997, Mr.Shetty is the Member of Board of Governors of the prestigious Abu Dhabi Indian School, Abu Dhabi, which is the leading School in the entire Gulf with CBSE Syllabus with over 6000 students. Being a board member, he is also the Chairman of Sports Division of the school and has served the community relentlessly in shaping up the children by inculcating discipline and leadership.

It is a matter of pride to mention here that Sri.Sarvotham was instrumental in introducing the game of ladies Throw Ball in UAE through the Bunts and Kannada Associations. This heralded a new sport in the Gulf which now has become a household name and very popular.

The culmination of all his social work and the leadership quality in bringing the Kannadigas of the Emirates together, resulted in the greatest moment of his life in 1998 when the Govt of Karnataka conferred on him “KARNATAKA RAJYOTSAVA AWARD” under the category of ‘Horananda Kannadiga’ for his contribution in the development of Kannada Arts and Culture in foreign land.

Under his able Presidentship, during the year 2006 Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha received the coveted “Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava Prashasthi” for the meritorious work rendered for the cause of Kannada/Karnataka in foreign land. It is interesting to note that the award was bestowed on the 50th Anniversary of Karnataka State and the 25th Anniversary of Abu Dhabi KarnatakaSangha.

The numerous accolade and honours he received from various Associations and Forums all over the world shows the love and respect he draws from people of different walks of life, language and culture.

A dramatist, sports lover, educationist, a founder cum organizer of Kannada & Tulu cultural activates, a worshipper of ‘Kannada Matha’ all rolled into one; Sri Sarvotham Shetty is an asset to Gulf Kanndigas and we pray Almighty Lord to give him strength and inspiration to continue to serve and uphold the Karatnaka tradition & culture in this part of the world.

Sri. Sarvotham Shetty is a happy family man with a loving and supportive wife Usha and lovable kids Samarth and Samyuktha.

Nitte:‘Anandotsava-09’, a prestigious annual intercollegiate cultural festival organized by NMAM Institute of Technology (a unit of NITTE education trust), an autonomous institute under VTU, Belgaum, was held on 24th and 25th march 2009 with great ovation amidst huge fan fair. This fest has a methodical record of four years. The name itself defines ‘uthsaha’ meaning enthusiasm which in turn means ‘life’.

The fest was inaugurated by Dr.Arunachalam Kumar, (an academician and artist ) the chief guest who dazzled the gathering with his fantastic speech. He opined that it was at this age youngsters can experiment with their innovative ideas and suggested students to keep up the enthusiasm. He told the students to enjoy the two day
fest, interact with other college students.
More than 30 colleges across the state were present to participate in 19 different events at 6 different venues in the campus. Food and accommodation facility was provided to the students from far off places.The events lined up for the for the day one were mehendi, rangoli, on the spot painting, pencil sketching, and cartooning, among the off stage events. And mime, mad adds, anthakshari, fashion show, jam were among the on stage events.
Most challenging event was the debate competition as students were judged on their elocutionary and oratory skills. The topic was thrown out to students just 30mins prior to the program, “Are Indians Courteous to fellow Indians”. A student from SJEC bagged the first place. Most interesting events of the day were mime and mad adds. Mime had many participating groups from different colleges with many interesting topics such as ragging, peer pressure, patriotism, adverse effects of cell phones, and the most recently discussed pub incident in mangalore.
The mad adds were the best example for a pool of creative and innovative ideas one can deliver. It had many full blooded performances leaving the judges in bewilderment.
Mehendi and rangoli were the two colourful events. Pencil sketching, cartooning, and on the spot painting were held in the lawn, which provided a pleasant environment for the participants. It was awesome to see them bring out different innovative ideas with pencils and just few colors within no time. NMAMIT bagged first position in pencil sketching.
The Anthakshari event was hosted by Dr.Shenoy. it was the most dazzling event of the day, as even the audience got chance to sing. Canara college got the first prize.
The most startling event was the fashion show. The crowd of course, was overwhelmed to cheer up the participants by their falsettos. ‘ANANDOTSAVA-09’

‘Anandotsava-09’, a prestigious annual intercollegiate cultural festival organized by NMAM Institute of Technology (a unit of NITTE education trust), an autonomous institute under VTU, Belgaum, was held on 24th and 25th march 2009 with great ovation amidst huge fan fair. This fest has a methodical record of four years. The name itself defines ‘uthsaha’ meaning enthusiasm which in turn means ‘life’.

The fest was inaugurated by Dr.Arunachalam Kumar, (an academician and artist ) the chief guest who dazzled the gathering with his fantastic speech. He opined that it was at this age youngsters can experiment with their innovative ideas and suggested students to keep up the enthusiasm. He told the students to enjoy the two day
fest, interact with other college students.
More than 30 colleges across the state were present to participate in 19 different events at 6 different venues in the campus. Food and accommodation facility was provided to the students from far off places.The events lined up for the for the day one were mehendi, rangoli, on the spot painting, pencil sketching, and cartooning, among the off stage events. And mime, mad adds, anthakshari, fashion show, jam were among the on stage events.
Most challenging event was the debate competition as students were judged on their elocutionary and oratory skills. The topic was thrown out to students just 30mins prior to the program, “Are Indians Courteous to fellow Indians”. A student from SJEC bagged the first place. Most interesting events of the day were mime and mad adds. Mime had many participating groups from different colleges with many interesting topics such as ragging, peer pressure, patriotism, adverse effects of cell phones, and the most recently discussed pub incident in mangalore.
The mad adds were the best example for a pool of creative and innovative ideas one can deliver. It had many full blooded performances leaving the judges in bewilderment.
Mehendi and rangoli were the two colourful events. Pencil sketching, cartooning, and on the spot painting were held in the lawn, which provided a pleasant environment for the participants. It was awesome to see them bring out different innovative ideas with pencils and just few colors within no time. NMAMIT bagged first position in pencil sketching.
The Anthakshari event was hosted by Dr.Shenoy. it was the most dazzling event of the day, as even the audience got chance to sing. Canara college got the first prize.

The day two events were solo dance, eastern solo, group dance,dham charads, and quiz
Solo dance was a mindblowing event. It was a Dhamka performance from all the contestants. quiz was also conducted.
It was a remarkable platform for all the students to shower their talents. A first year student Suraj from NMAMIT says “it was a great time for me, as it is a break. And I even got a chance to interact with other college students and make friends”. Whereas Akshatha, a third year Information Science student from KVG, Sulya says “I am having great fun here. And I am happy that I will be participating in the group dance competition. I hope to bag some prize for my college”.
Overall it was an innate fest which brought students from different educational institutes. It did live upto the standards expected.

The 5th Udupi District Kannada Sahithya Sammelan will be held on December 30 and 31 at Justice K S Hegde Podium, Kavi Muddanna Auditorium, Nitte, informed President of Udupi District Kannada Sahithya Parishath Ambathanaya Mudradi.Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he informed that renowned littérateur Na Mogasale will preside over the two-day Sammelan. Home Minister Dr V S Acharya will be inaugurating the sammelan. Chancellor of Nitte University N Vinaya Hegde will be the chief guest, he added.Prior to the inauguration of the Sammelan, the procession of Kannada Bhuvaneshwari would be held and President of Nitte Grama Panchayath Jyothi Poojary will inaugurate the procession, he said.
As many as five sessions will be organised during the two-day meet. First session will be on “Udupi district ancient poets,” while the second session will be dais for an interaction with the President of the Sammelan. The interaction will be followed by a poets’ meet in which litterateurs Dundiraj, Jayaram Karanth, Prof Vasanth Bannadi, Gururaj Banandi and others will take part. The fourth session will be based on pro-society literature and the fifth session will be held on “Women and contemporary challenges.”About 15 book stalls will be set up at the Sammelan and as many as 7 books by noted writers will be released on the occasion. Former President of Kannada Sahithya Parishath Harikrishna Punarur will release the books on the occasion and President of Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahithya Parishath Pradeep Kumar Kalkura will inaugurate the book stalls.Veteran Litterateur Go Ru Chennabasappa will deliver the valedictory address and Udupi DC P Hemalatha will be the chief guest on the occasion. itte (Udupi District): The Fifth Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan got off to a colourful start here on Tuesday. The sammelan started with a procession, which was followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Chancellor of Nitte University N. Vinay Hegde, the flag of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat by president of the Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Ambatanaya Mudrady, and the Kannada Flag by Ganesh Karnik, MLC.
Typical of any literary meet, book stalls were also set up. Eager schoolchildren were seen browsing through books for quite some time.
Home Minister V.S. Acharya, who was scheduled to inaugurate the sammelan, did not turn up. He had to rush to Bangalore to attend to urgent work. Of the five MLAs in the district, only one turned up for the inaugural function – Lalaji Mendon. Of the three MLCs (excluding V.S. Acharya), only one turned up – Mr. Ganesh Karnik.
The president of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Raju Poojary, too was absent.
Inaugurating the two-day sammelan, Chancellor of Nitte University N. Vinay Hegde said that while people could converse in English or any other language for purposes of business, they should feel a certain bond for Kannada and promote the language. Scholars should write books in simple Kannada as a large majority of readers were neither erudite nor academicians, he said. Role of youth

A two-hour drive from Manipal, Moodbidri offers one a glimpse of Jain culture.GOWRI RAMNARAYAN
"I'M going to see the Jain basadis tomorrow," said the participant at a heritage seminar at Manipal. The light in his eyes came not from a conservationist's curiosity, but a pilgrim's devotion. It inspired you to undertake a similar, shorter trip to see the monuments of a creed that some scholars trace back to Harappa and Mohenjadaro.
With asceticism and ahimsa as its ideals (inspiring the Buddha?), Jainism is identified with metaphysical reflexivity and uncompromising ethics. Reduced to a minority through centuries of religious persecution, Jains are best known today for their business acumen and practice of charity. The national anthem names them, but this country knows little about Jain culture past and present.
The two-hour drive from Manipal (35 km from Mangalore) offers ample time to recall that Jainism sees God as Infinite Knowledge, Perception, Consciousness and Joy. The universe has no beginning, no end. As the yugas roll on, the 24 tirthankaras (Fjord Makers) teach humanity to reach moksha by burning up the karma of innumerable birth cycles, Parshvanatha (877-777 B.C.) and Mahavira (599-527 B.C.) being such archetypal guides in the present age. The five-fold mantra offers obeisance not to God, but to perfected beings (Arahanta), liberated souls (Siddha), masters (Acharya), teachers (Upadhyaya), virtue seekers (Sadhus). Individuals must find release through their own efforts, not through divine intervention.
Unrelenting austerity? But did it not spark awesome creativity in architecture, sculpture, painting and poetry? Ancient tongues Tamil and Prakrit are rich with literary contributions from the Jain monks. Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), Palitana (Gujarat), Bawangaja (Madhya Pradesh), Shikharjin Madhuban (Bihar) stun the eye with their magnificence.
Shrine cluster
Moodbidri, our destination, known as Kshemavenupura and Jain Kashi, has a cluster of 18 shrines. Enter the 1,000-pillared Tribhuvanatilaka chudamani (crest jewel of the three worlds) basadi, and you see the realisation of a vision as vast as it is intricate. Known also as Chandranath basadi honouring the eight-foot tall figure of Bhagwan Chandranath, and Hosa basadi to signify its ageless beauty, the temple's many mantapas are supported by pillars. No two are alike. Each has its own design, some achieving incredibly delicate results on granite.
Built in 1430 by local chieftain Devaraya Wodeyar, with additions made in 1962, this shrine has a 60 feet tall monolith manasthambha (erected by Queen Nagala Devi) that rivets your gaze. Circle the shrine and you see Chinese dragons and African giraffes jostling with local elephants and mythical yalis, testifying to prosperous trade and protean imagination. The sloping roof is propped by carved posts, and ruddy wooden bars bloodshot under the noon sun.

A Gujarati family stands in the sanctum, clapping beats to off key songs, the lamps throw shadows on the three huge idols — all cast in the same mould to ignorant eyes. A woman comes up to the threshold with camphor light. You spread your hands over the blaze and touch your eyes. She is the priest's wife. "Pilgrims come, but there is no money for worship, I have to get the oil from my home for the lamps here," she says in Kannada. Isn't there a temple management committee? "Yes," she replies, "but we have to make do with whatever is placed on this thali by visitors." She turns away to sweep the floor.
`No' for everything
We stop at the entrance again before the table manned by officials. Any written material on the temple? "No." Can anyone tell us something about it? One of them barks, "I'm tired. Can't talk." You retreat in a hurry. Stepping out of the wooden portals, your nostrils are assailed by the pungent smell of leaf-wrapped dosai.
Walk past them into a 650-year-old math, which boasts a library of precious texts in palm leaves. It caters to the religious needs of 160 families, descendants of a huge populace of long ago. A saffron monk stilled in meditation in the inner chamber ... women singing in the outer hall ... a chorus of fidgetty boys ... The walls are covered with paintings from an age innocent of calendar art,16th Century they say.
Any book in English about Moodbidri? The official's "No" is no surprise, flung between dinner arrangements before sundown for visitors in the yard. "Give me your address, and we will post it," he says finally, knowing as you do that he will not. Ask for oral information and he waves towards shrines known barely by names — Hire, Kere, Kallu, Padu, Shettara, Leppada...
Among them, the oldest Eighth Century Guru basadi moves you by the universality of the lion-and-lamb myth. Here they are a cow and a tiger drinking from the same pool, triggering a search in the bamboo thicket by a Digambara Jain renunciate. An idol of Parshvanatha, the 23rd tirthankara, is found; a temple raised. The romance of Moodbidri (eastern bamboo forest) hits you with renewed force — especially as there is neither bamboo nor forest to green the concrete-hot town of 18 Jain and 18 Hindu temples. But the woods of yore had offered shelter to the persecuted Jains who had wandered south. They too could drink from the pool and survive. Many of the Ganga, Chalukya, Rashtrakuta, Hoysala and Alupa rulers of the region supported the faith.
During Mughal assaults, the old Jain texts were shifted from Shravanabelagola to the safer Moodbidri. Rediscovered in the 1800s, these Moodbidri Manuscripts — Prakrit texts copied in old Hale-kannada script, with pinpricks on palm leaves — are revered as the oldest (scribed circa 1,060 A.D.) written materials of the tradition going back to Arihant.
The westering sun speeds us home, but not before we spot Jain monks meditating in eternal silence on the heat-cracked, scrub-bearded red earth beyond the town. The samadhis loom under brushwood shrouds. Their shadows hush you. Birds spin free, joyous melodies. A kite dances in the coppery sky. A pit yawns close by, strung with spidery twigs. Nadoja Daroji Iramma, journalist Ishwaraiah, poet N S Laxminarayan Bhat, film-maker Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, theatre activist Sadanand Suvarna, yakshagana artiste Hosthota Manjunath Bhagavat, Y K Muddukrishna, writer Sa Shi Marulaiah and litterateur Go Ru Channabasappa and Bahrain Kannada Sangha (Austin Santhosh) and folklore singer Siri Ajji were presented with the prestigious award. Addressing the gathering after felicitating the achievers, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Virendra Heggade said that a language cannot be saved through struggles or movements. But it can be promoted, nurtured and preserved by conducting creative programmes such as Nudisiri. People from Tulunadu have been contributing to the enrichment of Kannada language in various ways. Alva's Nudisiri is one such platform which has constantly adhered to the task of enhancing Kannada culture and tradition, he added. Solo Yakshagana by Mantapa Prabhakara Upadhyaya, Puja Kunitha, Bhavaragha Maalike by the winners of TV channel singing competition, DV Gundappa's Aanthapuragithe-based ballet by Hejje Gejje group from Manipal, 'Chithradurga Vaibhava' by Nrthya Nikethana Challakere took art lovers to the world of folklore on the first day.
'Makkala Mayaloka' drama directed Jeevan Ram Sullia stole the show on the second day of the event. The Rathnakaravarni Vedike, the main venue of the event, greeted the visitors with folksingers presenting songs with tamboora and taala in their hands.Cartoonist Parakash Shetty drew the caricature of the interested visitors within two minutes at trhe entrance with the caption: 'Nimma Bhava Vyangya Chithra'. A 70-year old Shivarama Bhatta, sitting on a chair with a caption: 'Sabha nimmadu padhya nammadu', writes four-line poem witin minutes after asking visitors to tell Kannada word. At about 5.30 am on the final day Dr Mohan Alva, the man behind the literary event performed the dance. The book stalls wore busy look all the three days.

“Kannada Development Authority is determined to see to it that complete implementation of Kannada is achieved by January 1, 2009. Karnataka is the only state where we are fighting for the sake of the identity for the language. This kind of struggle is certainly not happening in any other state in the country. Though several circular were issued to see to it that the banners and display boards in all commercials centres across the state are in Kannada, it is not yet implemented,” said Kannada Development Authority Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru.Delivering the valedictory address at ‘Alvas’ Nudisiri-08’ on Sunday, Mr Chandru said that year 2009 will be observed as ‘Kannada implementation year’ and efforts will be made to see to it that Kannada is implemented in a big way across the state. Further he said the centre will be demanded to provide jobs on the basis of the population of the state. He said that 68 per cent of Bangalore’s population comprises of people from other states who do not even acknowledge that they are staying in Karnataka and totally disagree to use the official language in day to day life. He said that the main reason for such an attitude is due to lack of political will and negligence of the authorities concerned.
“In other states we see that milestone, banners and every display is in the local language itself without any other language juxtaposed. In Karnataka we are not being so fanatic. We want all banners and displays in Kannada first followed by other language,” he added and said that Kannadigas need not be ‘Durabhimani’ (fanatics) like the people from Maharashtra. ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ವಿ.ವಿ. ಮಟ್ಟದ ಯುವಜನೋತ್ಸವ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ೨, ೩ ಹಾಗೂ ೪ನೇ ತಾರೀಖಿನಂದು ಮೂಡುಬಿದಿರೆಯ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಮೂಡುಬಿದಿರೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಗಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಮೂರನೇ ಬಾರಿ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದ ಆಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಸುಮಾರು ೧೨೮ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಹೆಸರು ನೊಂದಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ೩,೨೦೦ ರಿಂದ ೪,೦೦೦ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ೯ ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೇಗಳು ಹಗಲು ಹಾಗೂ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೂ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಸುಮಾರು ೨೨೫ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ೪೦೦ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಕಲಾವಿದರು, ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳು ತೀರ್ಪುಗಾರರಾಗಿ ಸಹಕರಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ವಿ.ವಿ.ಯ ಉಪಕುಲಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಡಾ. ಎಸ್. ರಮಾನಂದ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಲಿದ್ದು, ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಉಪಕುಲಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್.ಕಾಂತ, ಡಾ.ಎಸ್.ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ, ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಶಾಸಕರಾದ ಅಭಯ್ ಚಂದ್ರ ಜೈನ್, ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದ ಟ್ರಷ್ಠಿ ಅಮರನಾಥ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅಥಿತಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಂಗೀತ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ನಾದಲಹರಿ, ನೃತ್ಯ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಗಳಿರುವ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪೂರಕವಾದ ಸ್ಮೃತಿ-ಕೃತಿ, ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿ ರಂಗಲೀಲೆ, ಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟಂತೆ ರೂಪ-ಸ್ವರೂಪ -ಇವು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು. ನಾದ ಲಹರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ೧೦, ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ-ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ೩, ಸ್ಮೃತಿ-ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ೪, ರಂಗಲೀಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ೪, ರೂಪ-ಸ್ವರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ೫ ನಮೂನೆಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು ನಡೆಯಲಿದ್ದು ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಡಾ.ಎಂ.ಮೋಹನ್ ಆಳ್ವ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ರಾಜಕೀಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾರೆ!ಎರಡೂ ಕೈಗಳಿಲ್ಲದ ಹುಡುಗಿಯೊಬ್ಬಳು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆಂದರೆ, ಕುಡುಬಿ ಜನಾಂಗದ ಚಿಮಿಣಿ ದೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿ ಎಸ್‌ಎಸ್‌ಎಲ್‌ಸಿ ಓದಿದಾಕೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿತು ಸಿಇಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರ್‍ಯಾಂಕ್ ಪಡೆದು ವೈದ್ಯಳಾಗುತ್ತಾಳೆಂದರೆ, ಮೂಡುಬಿದ್ರೆಯ ಡ್ರೈವರನ ಮಗ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ೬೦೦ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವೇಗದ ಓಟಗಾರನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆಂದರೆ ಆಗುವ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ?ಅಂದದ್ದು ಮೂಡುಬಿದ್ರೆಯ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಮೋಹನ ಆಳ್ವ.ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಕೊನೆಯ ದಿನವಾದ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ೫.೩೦ಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾನಪದ ನೃತ್ಯ ಕುಣಿದು, ಬಳಿಕ ಸಂವಾದ ಕಾರ್‍ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡ ಮೋಹನ ಆಳ್ವರಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ನಡೆಸುವುದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅದ್ಹೇಗೆ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ ಅಂತ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕೇಳಿದವರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದ್ದು ಹೀಗೆ. ಎಂಟು ಸಾವಿರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿರುವ ಆಳ್ವರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಟು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಸಂಗೀತ, ಕ್ರೀಡೆ ಹೀಗೆ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತರಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ಊಟ, ವಸತಿ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನ, ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ತಾನು ಅನುಭ"ಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆನಂದವನ್ನು ಅವರು "ವರಿಸಿದ್ದು "ಗೆ.ಸಮುದ್ರ ತಟದ ರಾಶಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಮರಳು ನಾನು, ಆಕಾಶದ "ಂಚು ಹುಳ ನಾನು ಎಂದ ಆಳ್ವ ವೀರೇಂದ್ರ ಹೆಗಡೆ ತನ್ನ ಆದರ್ಶ ಎಂದರು. ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಎಂದರು. ಅಕ್ಕಿಯಿಂದ ಆರುನೂರು ಬಗೆಯ ತಿಂಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಇಷ್ಟ ಎಂದರು. ಕೇಸರಿ, ಬಿಳಿ, ಹಸಿರು ಬಣ್ಣಗಳೆಂದರೆ ಇಷ್ಟ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಸಂಗೀತ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ವಾದ್ಯಗಳೂ ಇಷ್ಟ. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸ ಕೊಡುವ ನೃತ್ಯ ಬಹು ಇಷ್ಟ ಅಂದರು.ತನ್ನ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ದ್ಟೃಂದ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಕಲೆಕ್ಷನ್ ಎಷ್ಟು ಆಗಿದೆ ಅಂತ ಇವತ್ತಿನವರೆಗೂ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಣದ ಕಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಮನೆಗೆ ಒಲ್ಲ. ಬೇಕಾದ್ರೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹುಡುಕಿ; ನನ್ನ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಅಕೌಂಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸಾವಿರ ರೂಪಾ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಅದು ನಿಮಗೇ! ಹಣದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯೋಚಿಸಿದ್ರೆ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನು ಹಣಕಾಸು ವಿಭಾಗದವರೇ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದರು ಮೋಹನ ಆಳ್ವ ಸಂವಾದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ.ಬಂಟರ, ಬಟ್ಟರ, ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಸಮಾಜ ಎಂಬುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸೇರಿ ಸಮಾಜದ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆ. ತನಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಮಾತ್ರ. ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವವರು ಮಧ್ಯಮ ವರ್ಗದವರು. ಅವರ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದವರನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದ ಆಳ್ವ, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ, ತಾ, ಪತ್ನಿ ಶೋಭಾರನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಮೌಲ್ಯಾಧಾರಿತವಾದ, ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವ ಕನಸು ಕಟ್ಟಬೇಕು. ಅಸೂಯೆ, ದ್ವೇಸುವವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಲ್ಲ. ತಾಳ್ಮೆ, ತ್ಯಾಗಿಗಳು ಇಷ್ಟ ಎಂದರು.ತರಗತಿ ನಾಯಕನ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗೂ ನಿಲ್ಲದ ತಾನು ರಾಜಕೀಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಜನ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದೇ ರೀತಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್, ಅಕಾಡಮಿಗಳ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಹೊಂದಿ, ಮಾರೀಚನಂತೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲದ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾರೆ. ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕೈದು ಗಂಟೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮಲಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದ ಆಳ್ವ, ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೋಷ್ಟಿ ಇಡಬಹುದಲ್ವ ಎಂಬ ನಾಗತಿಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಸಿನಿಮಾ, ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಗ್ಲಾಮರ್‌ನವರೇ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ಸಂಘಟಿಸುವಾಗ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬಾಧೆ ಕೊಡುವವರು. ನಾಗತಿಹಳ್ಳಿಯವರೇ ಗ್ಟೋಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ಸಿನಿಮಾದವರನ್ನು ಕರೆ ತಂದರೆ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಗ್ಟೋ ಮುಂದಿನ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದರು.ಪುಂಡಿಕಾಯಿ ಗಣಪಯ್ಯ ಭಟ್ ಸಂವಾದ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಭಾನುವಾರ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಆರು ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಕಾರ್‍ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರಾರು ಮಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು!ವರದಿ : ಮಿಥುನ ಕೊಡೆತ್ತೂರು

MANGALORE: Steps should be taken to enrich Kannada language, which has recently been accorded the classical language status, said Channaveer Kanavi, poet, here on Friday.
He was speaking as the president of the three-day literary meet “Alva’s Nudisiri”, which began here.
Calling upon the language experts to contribute to make Kannada a rich language, he said many people had sacrificed their lives for it. The domination of Sanskrit was broken by the Vachanakaras of the 12th century. The rise of Buddhism and Jainism led to the emergence of the common man’s Kannada. The depth and scope of the “vachana movement” could be seen in the poets of different class and religion, the poet said. Stating that Sarvajna symbolised the strength and possibilities of Kannada mind, Mr. Kanavi said that another movement, the “tatva pada”, was led by Shishunala Shareef, Shankarananda and Mailara Basavalinga. This movement also showcased the depth of knowledge and reasoning of Kannada mind.
“Prior to Basava and the Vachana movement, Kannada was not much used for literary purpose” Mr. Kanavi said. The creative minds had been silenced by the then Sanskrit-dominant society. They found an outlet in the vachana movement to express themselves, Mr. Kanavi said.
This renaissance was enabled by the strength and courage of those poets. Kannada, as a culture, could not be understood by the geography of Karnataka or its population. The real strength and achievements of a language and a culture should be traced in the potential and prowess of a people over a period of time, Mr. Kanavi said.

ವಿದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಕೇರಳಿಗ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕುವ ಮುಂಚೆ ಮಲೆಯಾಳಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಚಂದಾ ಹಣ ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಅಷ್ಟೂ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಂಸದಂಗಡಿ, ತರಕಾರಿ ಅಂಗಡಿ ಜಾಸ್ತಿಯಾದಂತೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಮಾರುವ ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಲಿದ ದೇರ್ಲ ಮಂಗಲೂರು ವಿವಿಯ ಕೊಂಚ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಜಬ್ಬನೆಂಬ ಕಿತ್ತಲೆ ಮಾರುವುದನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್‍ಯವನ್ನು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಲು ಮರೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಕನ್ನಡ, ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಯೋಚಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕಾಗದು.
ಬೋರ್ಡಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಅಕ್ಷರ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಚಿಮಿಣಿ ದೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದು ಮುದ್ರಿಸಿದ ಮೌಲ್ಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯೋತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು. ಈಗ ಪ್ರಸಾರ, ಜಾಹೀರಾತುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಒಂದು ಕಡೆ ನೈತಿಕತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿತೋ ಏನೋ ಅಂತನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸೂ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಚಿಂತನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ವಿದ್ಯುನ್ಮಾನ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ದೀಪಕ್ ತಿಮ್ಮಯ್ಯ, ಸುದ್ದಿ ವಾಹಿನಿಗಳು ಇಲಿ ಹೋದ್ರೆ ಹುಲಿ ಹೋಯಿತೆಂಬಂತೆ ವೈಭವೀಕರಿಸುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಜನ ನೋಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಾಗೇ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಹಿಂದೆ ರೇಡಿಯೋದಿಂದ ಭಾಷೆ ಕಲಿಯಬಹುದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಟಿವಿಯಿಂದ ಭಾಷೆ ಕಲಿಯುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ? ಆದರೂ ಟಿವಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿತರಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಯಲು ಜನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕನ್ನಡದ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ಬೇಕೆ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮೇಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಟಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಭಾಷಾ ಜಾತಿ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೇ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಅಂತ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತಲೇ ಇವೆ, ಜನ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ. ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಾಳಾಗಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಮೊದಲು ಕೀಳರಿಮೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ದೀಪಕ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ವಿದ್ಯಾಗಿರಿ : ಅನ್ಯ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಿಂದ ತಾನು ಪ್ರಭಾವಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳುವ ಬದಲು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಭಾವಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಮೂಲಕ ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆ ಕೆಳಗಾದ ಆಲೋಚನಾ ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಡಾ. ಅರವಿಂದ ಮಾಲಗತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನವಾದ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಎರಡನೆಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಗೋಷ್ಟಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ : ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಹೊಸ ಸಂವೇದನೆಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಮಾಲಗತ್ತಿ, ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ೭ eನಪೀಠ, ೫೫ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಅಕಾಡಿಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳು ಬಂದಿವೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳು ಬಂದಾಗ ವಾದಗಳೂ ಆಗಿವೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳೇ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮಾನದಂಡವಲ್ಲ.ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಚಾರಿಕ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪ್ರಬುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಹೊಸಗನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮದಿಂದ ಅತೀತವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಿತು. ನವೋದಯದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಜಾನಪದ ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುವ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಾರ್‍ಯವಾಯಿತು. ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಶೋಧವನ್ನು ನವೋದಯ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಾರಿತು ಎಂದರು. ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಒಳಹೊಕ್ಕು ನೋಡುವ ಮೂರನೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣು ಬೇಕು. ಕೊಡವ, ತುಳು, ಬ್ಯಾರಿ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ರಚಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಬೆಸುಗೆ, ಸೌಹಾರ್ದಯುತ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ : ಪರಂಪರೆ ಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಡಾ.ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕೊಲ್ಹಾರ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಮಾತು, ಭಾಷೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಹುಟ್ಟಿತು. ಜಾನಪದ ಸಾ"ತ್ಯ ಗ್ರಂಥಸ್ಥವಾತು. ಈ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಪಂಪನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಕಾಲದ ನಂತರ ರಾಜಾಶ್ರಯ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದ ವಚನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ರಗಳೆ, ಷಟ್ಪದಿಗಳು, ಬಳಿಕ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಳು ಹೀಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಂತು. ವೈದಿಕ, ಜೈನ, ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ, ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಹೀಗೆ ಮತಗಳ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವೂ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿದು ಬಂತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಧನಂಜಯ ಕುಂಬ್ಳೆ ಗ್ಟೋ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

MANGALORE: Poet K.S. Nisar Ahmed said on Friday that people using Kannada had the greater responsibility of promoting unity and integrity of the nation through the language in the wake of increasing violence in society.
He was speaking after inaugurating Alva’s Nudisiri, a three-day annual literary festival, at Moodbidri near here.
Referring to Kannada epic Kavirajamarga, he said that it showed what a language should achieve now. On the usage of Kannada in present days, he expressed concern over Sanskritisation and urbanisation of Kannada.
Poet Channavera Kanavi, president of the literary event; Nallur Prasad, president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat; K. Amarnath Shetty, former Minister, and K. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, were present.Procession
A colourful procession comprising performance by cultural troupes was taken out in the town.
Mr. Kanavi was brought in the procession to the venue. Welcoming the gathering, Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s Education Foundation, expressed his desire to organise Nudisiri in each district of the State. Mr. Prasad pondered over why sahitya sammelans end up as an annual festival without contributing much to the development of the language by discussing the contemporary world and problems.
To discuss the contemporary world and problems, literary meets would be held at zonal levels. Dharwad would be the first to host such a meet, he said.
Mr. Kanavi released “Kannada Manasu - Sahitya Jawabdaari’, a souvenir of Nudisiri 2008, on the occasion.

Leading publishing houses offer discount on books
Many stalls intended to ‘fight globalisation’
MANGALORE: Book lovers are thronging the book stalls in the three-day festival of literature that got off to a start at Moodbidri near here on Friday.
These stalls were giving good discounts on account of the festival.
Interestingly, there were more college students among the crowds in the book exhibition and many bookstalls were selling the kurtas.
Popular publishing houses such as Navakarnataka and Ankita are displaying more of their own publications but still have given space for books from other publishing houses.
Navakarnataka is giving a discount of 10 per cent, Ankita 10 to 15 per cent and Lankesh Publishing House 20 per cent.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has published a new series of translated works from Sanskrit.
These introductory books to Sanskrit literature and philosophy are available for Rs. 30.
Books published by different universities of Karnataka – namely Mysore, Mangalore and Hampi are on sale with discount being 50 per cent.
Sanatana Samstha, Ramakrishna Mission and Shanthi Prakashana are selling books that are religious and spiritual in nature.
And All India Democratic Youth Organisation from Bangalore is exhibiting and selling political books ranging from Rs. 20 to Rs. 200.
Other than books, cotton handlooms are kept in different stalls for exhibition and sale.
Desi Samskruti from Shimoga has cotton saris for Rs. 480 to Rs. 640, Kurtas for Rs. 180 to Rs. 250 and shirts for Rs. 160 to Rs. 180. This organisation, in its banner, says, it’s a fight against globalisation.
Arive from Heggodu is selling Kurtas ranging from Rs. 190 to Rs. 230 and cotton bags ranging from Rs. 75 to Rs. 80.
Namma Bhoomi from Kanyana, Kundapura has also put up a stall of khadi and cotton dresses and other local artefacts made by the children of Namma Bhoomi.
Other than the cotton and khadi, one can also find a stall by Samaja Sevakara Samithi of Bangalore, which is selling T-shirts with Kannada poems imprinted on them. Benefit for schools
The money generated from sale of T-shirts with messages in Kannada will go to schools in Kolar, according to stall keeper H. Rajkumar.
The messages are taken from the works of Kuvempu, D.V. Gundappa and Rajaratnam.
Amidst all this, one can find stamp and coin exhibition by Rayi Rajkumar of Moodbidri and exhibition of Kannada greeting cards produced by Chitte Greetings of Bangalore. www.thehindu.com

ಮೂಡುಬಿದ್ರೆ : ಸೋನಿಯಾ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ಸುಷ್ಮಾ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಅಚಿದ್ರೆ ಚಪ್ಪಾಳೆ ಹೊಡೆಯುತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಮಗು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತಾಡ್ರೆ ಹೊಡೆದು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತಾಡಿಸ್ತೇವೆ.ಸಿನಿಮಾ ನೋಡಿ ಬಂದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಸಿನಿಮಾಕ್ಕೆ ಕಷ್ಟ ಪಟ್ಟು ಪಡೆದ ಟಿಕೆಟಿ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ.ಸಾಗರದಿಂದ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಡೈಲಿ ಬಸ್ಸು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಅಚಿದ್ರೆ ಅದು ಕಥೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಬಸ್ಸು ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಚಿದ್ರೆ ಕಥೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ!ನಮ್ಮೂರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬ ಮರುಳ ಇದ್ದ. ದಿನಾ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬಾರೋ ಬಾರೋ ಅಚಿತ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಸೂರ್‍ಯ ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಸಂಜೆ ಹೋಗೋ ಹೋಗೋ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಸೂರ್‍ಯ ಮುಳುಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ!ನಮ್ಮೂರಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಏಣಗಿ ಬಾಳಪ್ಪನವರ ನಾಟಕ ಕಂಪೆನಿ ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾಟಕ ಕಲಾವಿದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರೂ ಸಮುದ್ರ ತೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂರ್‍ಯಾಸ್ತ ನೋಡಲು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಾವೂ ಅವರ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಸೂರ್‍ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಆಯ್ತೇನಪ್ಪ? ಅಂತ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹೌದು ಅಂದಾಗ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊರಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅದೇನು ಸೂರ್‍ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿತ್ತೋ? ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಪಕ್ಕದ ಹೆಂಗಸೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಅಕ್ಕನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದರು. ಹೆಂಗಸಿಗೆ ಮೈತುಂಬ ರೋಗವಾಗಿ ಆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಬರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಕೆಯ ಅಕ್ಕನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಲು ಗಂಡುಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಆಕೆಯ ಅಕ್ಕ, ತಂಗಿ ನಂಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರೆ ತಂದು ಕೊಡಿ, ನಾನು ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರೆ ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟೆವು. ಆದರೆ ಆಕೆ ನಾಳೆ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ ಅಂತ "ಷಾದದಿಂದ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಬದುಕುವ ಆಸೆ, ಇನ್ರ್ನೆಂದೆಡೆ ಸಾಯದಿರುವ "ಷಾದ. ಮುಂಬುಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಒತ್ತೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಸೈನಿಕರು ಉಗ್ರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾದಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾ"ಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಾಗಿ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಾ"ಲ್ಲಿ ಖುಯಲ್ಲಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೈನಿಕರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವದ ಹಂಗು ತೊರೆದು ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದು ತಿಳಿದಿರಬೇಕು.ಮುಂಬೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋರು ಮಳೆ, ನೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಹೊರಗೆಲ್ಲ ನೀರು, ಆದರೆ ನಮಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ನೀರು ಸಿಗುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟವಾತು.ಮುಂಬೈ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವತಿ ಹುಚ್ಚಿಯೊಬ್ಬಳು ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತಾಗ ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಯುವತಿಯರು ಹೆದರಿ ಚೆಲ್ಲಾಪಿಲ್ಲಿಯಾಗಿ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರು.ಹೀಗೆ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಥೆಗಳ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಥಾ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಿಸಿದವರು ಮುಂಗಾರು ಮಳೆಯ ಅನಂತರ ಐವತ್ತಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಗೀತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಖ್ಯಾತರಾದ ಕಥೆಗಾರ ಜಯಂತ ಕಾಯ್ಕಿಣಿ.ಕಥೆ ಕೇವಲ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲ. ಉಳಿದ ಜೀವನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವೀಯ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬೇಕು. ನಾನು, ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ, ನನ್ನ ಹೆಲ್ಮೆಟ್, ನಾನು ಕಾಫಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಶಾಂತಿ ಭವನ ಇ೦ತಹ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಕಾಯ್ಕಿಣಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಏನು ಬರೆದ್ರೂ ಪ್ರಿಂಟಾಗುವ ವಿಫುಲತೆಯ ಡೇಂಜರ್ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಈಗ ಇದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾದ ಕಥೆ, ಕವಿತೆ ಬರೆದಾಗ ಆತನ ಸೀಮೆಗಳು ಹಿಗ್ಗುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ದಿವ್ಯಶ್ರೀನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಯಾವುದೇ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯ-ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ: ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿ ಗ್ಟೋಮೂಡುಬಿದ್ರೆ :ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ವರುಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಗೆ ೫೨ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳ ಲಿಪಿ(ತಮಿಳಿಗೆ ೩೨)ಯನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡುದೇ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಲು ಸಾಕು ಎಂದು ಡಾ.ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅವರು ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಮೊದಲ ವಿಚಾರ ಗೋಷ್ಟಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ: ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷಾ ಪ್ರಭಾವದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.೫೨ಲಿಪಿಗಳ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಯಾವುದೇ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಜೈನ, ಬೌದ್ಧ, ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟಿದೆ. ಅಥವಾ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಜನ ಇತರ ಭಾಷೆ ಅಚಿದರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದರು. ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಪುನಾರಚಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ತರಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಲೆಯಾಳಿ, ತಮಿಳು, ತೆಲುಗು, ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಅರಿವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ವರುಷಗಳಿಂದ ಇದ್ದು, ಇವತ್ತೂ ಇರುವ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡವೂ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ ಬಿಲೆಮಲೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಆತಂಕ ಅನಗತ್ಯ ಎಂದರು.ತಮಿಳಿಗೆ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನದ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಕೇಳಿ ಬಂದದ್ದು ಶಿಕಾಗೋದಿಂದ. ಹೊರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮಿಳಿನ ಮುನ್ನೂರು, ತೆಲುಗಿನ ಅರ್‍ವತ್ತು "ದ್ವಾಂಸರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಲ್ಲ ದೊಡ್ಡ "ದ್ವಾಂಸರು "ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕೃತಿಗಳು "ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುವಾದಗೊಂಡಾಗ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಧಾನತೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಲೋಕಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಥಿಲಿ, ದೋಗ್ರಿ ಭಾಷೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಸಂಸದರು ಇದ್ದರು. ತುಳು"ನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಸದರು ಏಳಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಉಪಭಾಷೆಯ ನಿರ್ನಾಮಧಾರವಾಡ, ಮೂಡುಬಿದ್ರೆ, ಕೋಲಾರದವರು "ಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ""ಧೆಡೆಯ ಮಂದಿ ತನ್ನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸರಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತಪ್ಪು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯ"ಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವೈ"ಧ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಡಾ. ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ನಂಗಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ನಾಮ ಮಾಡುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ರಮ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಭಾಕ ಜಾತಿ ಪದ್ದತಿಯಂತೆ ಮೇಲುಕೀಳೆಂಬ ಭಾವನೆ ಬೇಡ. ಬೇರೆ ಭಾಷೆಗಳ ಪದಗಳು ಪರಿಷ್ಕಾರಗೊಂಡು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಬೇಕು. ಹಳೆಗನ್ನಡ, ಹೊಸಗನ್ನಡ, ನಡುಗನ್ನಡ ಎಂಬುದು ಕೇವಲ ಗ್ರಾಂಥಿಕ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಹೊಸದೇ ಎಂದು ನಂಗಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಭಾಕ ಅರಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತೋಪನ್ನಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಸಿರಿವಂತಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ. ಇದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಪ್ರಧಾನವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬಹುದಾದದ್ದು ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ಸಭಾ ಮಂಟಪಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಜಾನಪದ ಕಲೆಗಳು, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಹಂತದಲ್ಲೂ ಎದ್ದು ಕಾಣುವಂತಿತ್ತು.
ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ದಿಗ್ಗಜರಾದ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯ ಬಲ್ಲಾಳ ಸಭಾಂಗಣ, ರತ್ನಾಕರ ವರ್ಣಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳ ಹೆಸರುಗಳೇ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಲ್ಲುವ ಗೌರವದ ಪ್ರತೀಕ. ವಿದ್ಯಾಗಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿಡೀ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನದ ಮುಖವರ್ಣಿಕೆಗಳು, ಕಿರೀಟಗಳು ರಾರಾಜಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುವುದು ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಹಬ್ಬ. ಇದರ ಜತೆಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಗುಬಿಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಗೂಡುದೀಪಗಳು ಮನಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತವೆ.
ಇನ್ನು ವೇದಿಕೆಯತ್ತ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ಹೊರಳಿಸಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು, ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಗಂಡುಮೆಟ್ಟಿನ ಕಲೆಯಾದ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನದ ಕಿರೀಟಗಳು, ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಧಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪೀಠ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆಯ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಜ್ಞಾನಪೀಠ ಮಹಾನ್ ಚೇತನಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಕೃತಿ, ಕಲಶ, ದೀಪಗಳ ಸಾಲು ಸಾಲು, ಹೋದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕಣ್ಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುವ ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ಆಕಾಶ ಬುಟ್ಟಿಗಳು... ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಲಶವಿಟ್ಟಂತೆ, ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಕೂಡ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಭತ್ತದ ತೆನೆಗೆ ಹಾಲೆರೆಯುವ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ.
ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು, ಗಣ್ಯರು ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಬಳಸುವ ಭಾಷಣಪೀಠ (ಪೋಡಿಯಂ) ಅಂತೂ ಎಷ್ಟು ನೋಡಿದರೂ ಮನತಣಿಸುವಂತಿರುವ ಕೆಂಪಡಿಕೆಯ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ರಾಶಿಯಿಂದ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಭತ್ತದ ತೆನೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ರೀತಿ, ಸಭಾವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿಡೀ ಎದ್ದುಕಾಣುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ನಡೆದ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ. ಸಭಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರನ್ನು ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂರಿಸಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಿ ಕರೆತಂದ ವಿಧಾನ, ಕೇರಳದ ಅಬ್ಬರದ ಚೆಂಡೆವಾದನ, ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ವೇಷಗಳು, ಡೊಳ್ಳು ಕುಣಿತ, ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಹುಲಿವೇಷ ತಂಡ... ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಈ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವೈಭವವನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
ಸಭಾಂಗಣವು ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಗತ ವೈಭವ ಸಾರುವ, ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿರುವ ಗುತ್ತಿನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಂತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಅರಸರ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೋಲುವ ಇದು, ಕೆತ್ತನೆಶಿಲ್ಪ ಕಲಾ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ಕಂಬಗಳು, ಶಿಲ್ಪ ವೈಭವದಿಂದ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ತಾಯಿ ಭುವನೇಶ್ವರಿ ರಾರಾಜಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಐಸಿರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ನಡೆಯುವಾಗ, ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟುತನ, ಸಮಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳದಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ವಿವರವೇ ಅಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿಬಿಡಬಹುದು. ಡಾ.ಮೋಹನ್ ಆಳ್ವಾ ಅವರು ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡುವ ಮಹತ್ವವು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರನ ಮೇಲೂ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆಮಂತ್ರಣಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಿಸಿರುವ ಸಮಯ ಸಮೀಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆಯೇ ಪೋಡಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯ ದೀಪವೊಂದು ಬೆಳಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರರು ಆಳ್ವರ ಕ್ಷಮೆ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಾ, ಒಂದು ಹೇಳಲೇಬೇಕಾದ ಪ್ರಸಂಗವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಮುಗಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ, ಯಾವುದೇ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರ ಕೂಡ ಸಮಯಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪೂರಕವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಬಲವಾಗಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇರಿಸಬಹುದು.
ಅತ್ತ ಚೆನ್ನೈ ನಗರಿಯಿಡೀ ಮಳೆಯಿಂದ ತೋಯ್ದು ಹೋಗಿ ಜನಜೀವನ ಅಸ್ತವ್ಯಸ್ತಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ, ಇತ್ತ ಮೂಡುಬಿದಿರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ ತಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಮಳೆ ಸುರಿದು ಇಂಪಾದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ತಂಪಾಗಿಸಿತು.krupe

ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ಮೊದಲದಿನದ ಕವಿಸಮಯ-ಕವಿನಮನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಕವಯತ್ರಿ ಮಮತಾ ಜಿ.ಸಾಗರ್ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಕೆ.ಎಸ್.ನಿಸಾರ್ ಅಹಮದ್ ಅವರು ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅನಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವ ದರಿದ್ರ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿ ಎಂದು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಕರೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ, ಮಮತಾ ಜಿ. ಸಾಗರ್ ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಯಥೇಚ್ಛ ಬಳಸಿ ಕಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ತಾಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಎಂಬ ಕವನದಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ ಅವರು ತಾನು ಕವನ ಬರೆಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಿಸಿದರಾದರೂ, ಕವನ ಬರೆಯಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದೇಕೆ, ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಗಳೇನು ಎಂಬ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದವರು ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೇಳಲು ಮರೆತೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ನನ್ನ ಹಾಡಿನ ಜಾಡು, ಜಡಿಮಳೆ ಎಂಬ ಕವನ ವಾಚನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತು ಮುಗಿಸಿದರು. ಎಂ.ಎಸ್.ಗಿರಿಧರ್, ಜಿ.ವಸುಧಾ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ತಂಡ ಮಮತಾ ಜಿ.ಸಾಗರ್ ಅವರ ಕವನಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಗ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರಿಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತವನ್ನು ಉಣಬಡಿಸಿತು.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಸಾರುವ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ. ಇಹ ಪರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಭಕ್ತಿ, eನ, ಕರ್ಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಹಳತು ಹೊಸತರಲ್ಲಿ, ಏಕ ಅನೇಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಅದು ಸಮನ್ವಯಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೊಮ್ಮೆ ಒಳಿತು ಕೆಡುಕುಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಕಾಣುವ ದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯವೂ ಅದರದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ೨೦೦೮ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ನಾಡೋಜಾ ಡಾಚನ್ನವೀರ ಕಣವಿ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮೂಡಬಿದ್ರೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಗಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು ನುಡಿಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನವಾದ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ೨೦೦೮ರ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ದಿನ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರ ಆಶಯ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಡಾಚನ್ನವೀರ ಕಣವಿ, ಜೀವನದ ಎಲ್ಲ ರಂಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಾಧನೆ ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದೆ. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಕಾಣಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಆಮೂಲಕ ಉಜ್ವಲ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಶಾತವಾಹನರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಭಾವಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಳಿದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ರಾಜವಂಶ ಎಂಬ ಖ್ಯಾತಿ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಕದಂಬ ವಂಶ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜಕೀಯಕ್ಕೆ ಔನ್ನತ್ಯ, ಪ್ರಜಾವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯ, ಪರಮತ ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಆದರ್ಶಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪ, ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯವನ್ನಿತ್ತಿತಲ್ಲದೆ ಜನಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಹಸನುಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿತು. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನವಾದ ರಾಜವಂಶ ಕದಂಬರದು ಎಂದು ಡಾಕಣವಿ ಅವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಿಸಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡದ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಕಡೆ ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದಾದರೆ ಅದು ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಭಾಷಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಮೀರಿಸಿದವರು ವಿರಳ ಆತನ ಮಾತುಗಳು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಜನಮನವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದವು, ತಟ್ಟಿ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದವು, ಚುಚ್ಚಿ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದವು ಎಂದರು. ವಿವಿಧ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳ ಪರಿಣತಿ ಆಳವಾದ ತತ್ವ ಚಿಂತನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಆತನ ಅನುಭವ ಸರಳವಾದ ತ್ರಿಪದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿತು. ಜನಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಸುಹೊಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿತು. ಜನರ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿತು. ಸದಾ ಸಂಚಾರ ಕೈಗೊಂಡ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞ, ಮಹಾಂತ ಜಂಗಮ. ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಜೀವನಾನುಭವ, ಉದಾರವಾದ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಅನುಕಂಪೆ, ಉನ್ನತವಾದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ನಿಲುವು, ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಮುಪ್ಪುರಿಗೊಂಡ ಜನತಾ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞನದು ಎಂದು ಡಾಕಣವಿ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ಲೇಸಿದರು.ವಚನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ದಾಸ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳ ನಂತರ ಶರಣ ಮಾರ್ಗಾವಲಂಬಿಗಳಾದ ಅನುಭಾವಿಗಳು ರಚಿಸಿದ ತತ್ವಪದಗಳು ಜನಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿ ಹಸನುಗೊಳಿಸಿದವು. ಇವು ಅನುಭಾವಿಗಳ ರೂಪಕ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿವೆ. ೧೯ನೇ ಶತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಬೀಳುಯುಗ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುವುದುಂಟು ಆದರೆ ಈ ಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತತ್ವಪದಗಳ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆತು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಜನಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಭಾವಿಸಿದ ಬಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಿಸಿದರು. ೨೦ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಸುವರ್ಣ ಯುಗವನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ೨೧ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶಾದಾಯಕವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಬಹುದು ಎಂಬ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಡಾಕಣವಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ, ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಸಾಹಸ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಿಸಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮನಸ್ಸು, ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿವೇಚಿಸಿದರು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮನಸ್ಸು-ಸಾಹಿತಿಯ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು. ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯ ರೂವಾರಿ ಡಾಮೋಹನ್ ಆಳ್ವಾ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಕರಾದ ಡಾಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ನಿಸಾರ್ ಅಹಮದ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡಾಚನ್ನವೀರ ಕಣವಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು.
ಕನ್ನಡ ಗೀತೆಗಳ ಗಾಯನ ಸಮಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮೆರುಗು ನೀಡಿತು.

ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು ನುಡಿಯ ರ್‍ಟ್ರಾಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ-೨೦೦೮ ಮೂಡಬಿದರೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಗಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಂದರಿ ಆನಂದ -ಆಳ್ವ ಆವರಣದ ರತ್ನಾಕರ ವರ್ಣಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದು ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿತು

ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯ ಬಲ್ಲಾಳ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಗುತ್ತು ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅಲಂಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಗೊಂಡ ರತ್ನಾಕರ ವರ್ಣಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಡಾಕೆ.ಎಸ್.ನಿಸಾರ್ ಅಹಮದ್ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಬಳಿಕ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು ೨೦೦೬ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗಲೂ ವೇಷ ಬದಲಿಸಲು ನಾನು ಒಪ್ಪಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈಗ ಮೋಹನ ಆಳ್ವರ ಒತ್ತಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮಣಿದು ವೇಷಾಂತರಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದರು.
ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತಮನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಿದ ಅವರು ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಮಜಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸಿರಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. "ಘಟನೆಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ದುರಸ್ತಿಗೊಳಿಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಗಳು ನಡೆಸುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಹೋಪಕಾರದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಿದರು.
ಇಂತಹ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೆಲ ಇತಿ ಮಿತಿಗಳಿವೆ ಎಂದ ಅವರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಧ್ಯಮ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಅನುಸರಿಸುವುದು ಉಚಿತ. ಅಕಾಡೆ"ಕ್ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಂದ ಬರುವವರಿಗೂ, ಮನರಂಜನೆಯ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಬರುವವರಿಗೂ ಸಮಾನ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು ಅಗತ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ ದೊರಕಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ನುಡಿಸಿರಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮಹತ್ವ ಇದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಜಡತ್ವವನ್ನು ಕೊಡ"ಕೊಂಡು ಕನ್ನಡ ನುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಬೇಕು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವ ದುರಭ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ತೊಡೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂದರು.
ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್‌ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ನಲ್ಲೂರು ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷ ನಡೆಸುವ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಬದಲಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಆಗಾಗ ಕೇಳಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದು ಒಂದು ಜಾತ್ರೆಯಾದರೂ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಬದಲಾಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಒಂದೊಂದು ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಸಮಾವೇಶ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊದಲ ಸಮಾವೇಶ ಧಾರವಾಡದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ ಯುವ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಮಾವೇಶ ಹೆಸರಿನಡಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಈ ಸಮಾವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾಷೆಯ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಅವಸ್ಥಾಂತರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದರು.

After Karnataka’s Minister Shobha Karadlajes visit and donation of Ten Lakh Rupees, famous Nelliteertha Somanatherwara Temple is once again in news.She ogffered a simple poooja and some offering before election and it came true.
We want to improve the basic emenitiese in this area for all devotees who visits this place. We are in need of help from devotees said Mr.P.Subraya Bhat managing Trustee, when our correspondent visit the place with some of his students .
One of the Canadian Traveler recorded in his portal that there is no place like Nellitheertha cave temple in entire world.

Temple offers annadanam (meals) two times a day in order to help the devotees.
While inside the caves one can feel a special experience. theertha and Mruttika with defferent smell is recommendable things here. The natural caves with some specialties naturally attract more and more people.
The trustees have already prepared one crore rupees plan to improve the infrastructure in this Kshethra.

Historical place: The holy place Nellitheertha and the temple have a long and glorious history. Although the first recorded material mentioning Nellitheertha dates back to 1487 A.D, there is ample evidence available at the place to suggest that the temple existed much before that. At its glorious peak, there used to be daily festivities performed under the aegis of the ruler of Nellitheertha. From that grand state, the temple gradually declined and its existence itself was threatened towards the later part of the twentieth century. Since then, devotees and well wishers have got together to restore the temple to its previous grandeur and the temple renovation work is now on in full swing.
In the state of Karnataka and indeed in entire India, the South Kanara district occupies a unique place. The evergreen forests, amazing flora and fauna, the numerous temples and places of worship and monuments all make this district a huge attraction. The lifestyle of the people here exemplifies the concept of unity in diversity. For the people of Dakshina Kannada, art worship is a means of reaching the God and enriching the culture of the land. Naturally, therefore, one can observe the people seeing God in everything they do. Throughout the land, beautiful caves and lakes have become centers of spiritual and religious significance. Also, this land has given a multitude of scholars, artists, kings and other great contributors to the nation.
Historically, the Nellitheertha region was under the administration of the Chowta family. The chowtas are a famous name in Tulu Naadu and it is said that the temple flourished under their administration and was a major center for religious and cultural activities under their reign. Even today, the descendants of the chowta clan take an active interest in the maintenance and development of the temple.
There are some artifacts and archeological evidence available at the temple which point to a Jain interest and influence at the temple. These are evidence to suggest that the temple and the region was probably under the administration of Jain kings of the region.

The name Nellitheertha also has its etymological roots in the cave. Inside of the cave, drops of water, in the shape of amla (gooseberries) constantly keep dripping down. In fact, the lake is made up of these drops of water. Hence the name Nelli (Amla) Theertha (holy water). Another unique aspect of the cave is that it is closed for nearly 6 months a year. The cave is open only between October and April. Though there are religious reasons associated with this (it is said that the cave is open 6 months a year for humans and is meant for Gods and Rishis the remaining 6 months), the point is that the 6 month break each year helps the cave to "rejuvenate". The water freshens up and the animals inside enjoy the lack of disturbance. Yes, there are plenty of animals inside the cave. Most common among them are snakes (of all varieties), scorpions, porcupines and thousands of bats. These are considered sacred and troubling or hurting the animals in any manner is strictly forbidden.
Legend also has it that Maharshi (Saint) Jabali used this cave as his abode. Hence the name Jabaleshwara for the presiding deity. It is believed that Maharshi Jabali performed Tapas (penance) here to Lord Durgaparameshwari to request her to kill Arunasura (a demon). It is said that Sri Durga acceeded to Jabali's request and destroyed Arunasura at Kateel (another fabulous and famous temple town - very close to Nellitheertha). There is a spot inside the cave which is widely believed to be where Maharshi Jabali perfomed his Tapas.

The main deity of the temple is Sri Somanatheshwara (Shiva). The temple also has MahaGanapati (Elephant - headed God) and Jabali Maharshi as deities here. In fact, the Jabali Maharshi Brindavana was recently constructed. In typical Tulu-naadu (Tulu is the native language in this part of the woods) tradition, the temple also has its set of "Bhootas". Bhootas are considered as the "Ganas" or warrior-assistants of the Gods. According to mythology, bhootas are appointees of Shiva and they administer the temple/village. The main bhootas of the Nellitheertha temple are Pili-Chamundi (Pili means Tiger in Tulu), Kshetrapala, Raktheshwari and Doomavathy.
The Lingam of Shri Somanatheshwara has been made out of pure Saligrama and is considered very sacred. The Lingam has been built as Ardhanareeshwara. There are other artifacts in and around the temple which are pointers to the past glory of this place. Among them are the “Arasule Mancha” (King’s seat), “Arasule Mantapa” (King’s abode) and the “Jina Vigraha” (Jain Statue). The temple of Shri Mahaganapati has been rebuilt recently and is splendid in itself.
The most beautiful aspect of the temple is the Cave. Apart from the cave, of course, there are numerous other places surrounding the temple which are worth visiting. To the east of the temple’s entrance is the Amblattapadavu hillock. This hillock is about 300-500 feet high and offers a splendid scenery from the top. One can spot places such as the Bajpe Airport, Mangalore, Panambur, the MRPL refinery and Suratkal. On a day with clear skies, one can even spot the Arabian Sea. Amblattapadavu offers a wonderful view of sunrise and sunset everyday.
The “Nagappa Kere” (Snake Pond) is a small pond situated to the north of the temple. This natural pond, along with its religious significance, is also a scenic spot. All devotees who want to enter the cave temple have to clean themselves by taking bath in this pond and only then are they allowed into the cave. The lake is at its best immediately after the monsoons (Oct—Dec) when its crystal clear water is a swimmer’s delight. There are plans to build a small herbal park around this pond as also a small deer park.
The “Arasule Mancha” or King’s seat is situated near the main entrance of the temple towards the north. Historical evidence suggests that this seat was where the king of the land used to be seated when he visited the temple. It is believed that even today, the spirits of the former rulers visits the place at night and so it is prohibited to sit on the seat after dusk.
The Nellitheertha temple is a symbol of secularism. The temple and the cave is open to members of all beliefs and castes. Any person, above the age of 5, is allowed to enter the cave irrespective of gender. Truly, Nellitheertha is a special and model place.
Every year, around the last week of December, the Nellitheertha temple conducts its annual Jaatre (festival). This is a grand five day event full of religious and cultural ceremonies. One thing that strikes a visitor to the Jaatre is the sheer number of rituals and ceremonies associated with this event. Though it may appear superstitious to the "non-believer", it is a fascinating experience. Simpy put, the Jaatre is the instrument the villagers use to express their gratitude and respect to the Gods and Bhootas. They offer their prayers to the Gods and Bhootas and seek their continued protection and pray for good rains and harvests year after year.
The festival starts on the 14th day of the Shukla Paksha in Dhanur Maasa. Typically, this falls on the last week of December or the first week of January. The festival begins with a silver flag being hoisted to indicate the beginning of the Jaatre. This is called "Kodi" or "Dhwajaarohana" ceremony.
Each of the four days has separate ceremonies like the "Balis" where the idol of the presiding deity is carried around the temple for a procession accompanied by music, the "Rudrabhishekas" where the Shiva Lingam is given a grand shower with 101 vessels of water and the "Rathotsava" where the deity is taken on a procession on the chariot.
The climax of the festival is on the fourth day. Called the "Aarat" in local language, the ceremonies on this day mark the end of the festival. During the day, the presiding deity is taken on a procession in the Ratha or the chariot. Villagers offer their prayers during the procession. There is also an event called as the Pilchandi Bheti (meeting of Pili-Chamundi with the Lord) where the Bhoota offers its prayers to the Lord during the procession and seeks his blessings and vows to carry on the role of protecting Dharma in the region. The rituals are followed by a grand lunch for one and all. The food on this day is considered as God’s prasadam and no one leaves without having some.
The rest of the ceremonies start late in the evening and goes on till dawn next day. The deity is taken on a procession and villagers offer "Katte Pooje" or "Platform Pooja" to the deity as it passes their residence. The deity is taken to the temple pond and is given a bath there. Devotees also take bath along with the deity as its considered extremely sacred to do so. On the return journey to the temple, again, several Katte Poojes are offered. Finally, the flag is brought down to indicate the closure of the festival.
The next day, respect is offered to the Bhootas in the form of the Bhoota Kola. This is a dance ritual where a man assumes the role of a Bhoota and performs a set of rituals. It is believed that the Bhoota enters the body of the person during the Kola. Locals revere the ceremony a lot and the word of the person, performing the dance, during the kola is considered law. Even today, local disputes are settled during the Kola. The grandest of all Bhoota kolas is that of the "Pili Chamundi" Bhoota. It is a treat to the eyes what with the variety of colors on display. The kolas start early in the evening and continue till dawn the next day.
How to reach Nellitheertha :In Mangalore city, from “Jyoti Talkies”.Catch a bus that is going to Moodabidri/Karkala. There are many buses on this route.Get down at Yedapadavu. This comes after Vamanjoor, Gurupura and Kaikamba. Distance travelled is approximately 20kms.Take an autorickshaw from Yedapadavu to Nellitheertha. The distance is about 10kms and the standard charges are about Rs 90 (the auto comes back empty, so its cheap. Really!!). Of course, you can catch the “Muchur” buses from Hampankatta bus stand in Mangalore that will directly drop you to Nellitheertha. Frequency is about one every hour from 7am to 6pm.
